Lakisha Jones - Can an Idol be less than Ideal?

Just look at Lakisha Jones…she is absolutely beautiful (and I would personally kill to know where she got that dress)! And if Mr. Negativity himself said the other 23 contestants should just go home so she must be doing something right!

But here's the question - will her weight get in her way professionally?

Let's be honest - if she wins, the media will be all over her. "Video killed the radio star" didn't it? It's not about your talent these days, it's about the whole freakin' package - which is exactly opposite the real world where it's not about your personality or character but about the PACKAGE those things come in!

Now look at Jennifer Hudson in this Idol picture and then in her Oscar photo from last night...she hasn't changed much and I really hope she doesn’t.

But how many movie roles will there be for her down the road, if acting is what she wants to pursue? With gorgeous, talented, hot-bodied black actresses like Halle Berry or Jada Pinkett Smith to compete with (if, indeed the script calls specifically for a black woman in the part)...unless it's a singing role, I don't know how well she'll do. And that's a damn shame.

Besides that, Queen Latifah has carved out her own niche as the big, bold, brazen, bad-ass jazz singer in films like "Living Out Loud" and "Chicago."

Weight became a big issue for Idol Kelly Clarkson (and from the current hate-blogs out there it may still be). Even after she WON Idol she was chastised for being overweight.

I saw something on TV with her and her arms were getting that Nicole Ritchie, skeletal look so I'm very happy to say she doesn't look "heroine chic" but none-the-less...she's caved to the media's pressure (of course, I cave to the pressure of eating the Hershey Kisses that sit in a jar at my office and they're inanimate objects so who am I to talk!)

Now, fashion sense aside (I’d fire my "stylists" for letting me go onstage in that ensemble), after her win Clarkson swore she wasn’t going to starve herself to fit Hollywood’s standards…but alas, today the young diva looks just like everyone else! Yes, the girl in the white bikini and go-go boots is Kelly Clarkson...I triple-checked it to be sure!

If variety is the spice of life, I guess we’ll all be living a pretty bland existence since every singer in the world seems to be turning into a Jessica Simpson clone.

And you know, I too am a blond but for the love of all that's pure and holy, I don't see what the big deal is...especially if they're a bottle blond!

Whatever happened to fiery women like Ann and Nancy Wilson of the group Heart? I may be dating myself but they were supercool, rock-n-roll chicks who could handle a guitar and still look sexy!

Long live the rock divas, the jazz divas and even the blog divas like me who wish that today's version of female beauty were something that resembled more of the women I see at the grocery with their kids instead of these pre-fab, pre-pubescent paper dolls I see held up as the icons for my generation.
